( angela had watched him train earlier in the day. she'd taken a step out of the medical bay, taking the opportunity to see jack, genji, lena, even some of the others work.
she'd been polishing up on her diplomacy, falling onto that considering her combat skills were near nonexistant. but conversation wasn't the only place that diplomacy fell.
she'd invited genji down to the room. her dancing skills were a little rusty and she didn't know what his were like but she thought that it would be nice for them both to practice and give them an opportunity to talk some more.
she's sat down just inside the room as she waits. she has yet to consider that they won't have any music to practice to )
[ A chance to see Angela yet again is not one that Genji would pass up, and practicing the dances is much easier with an actual partner. He's no longer bold enough to simply ask any stranger, so this works out perfectly.
When he arrives, Angela is already there waiting for him; he makes a beeline in her direction. ]

[ Their group meeting had been strained, to say the least. This should be far more relaxed, even if the pressure is on to learn these dances. ]
( angela gives him a smile, standing and reaching a hand out to rest on his arm. it's a cold contrast to when she'd first seen him on base with his former looks, though angela is more familiar with his metallic appearance.
there's a few seconds of silence, angela giving him a look over before she responds. she's glad to see him, to be able to talk with him, even if it is strange after so long )
What about a waltz? Something simple to start with.

[ This is far more comfortable for him, and it's strange for Genji to realize that he's become so accepting of a body that he used to hate. He's aware that it's odd for Angela, Lena, and Morrison, even if they might not want to comment on it directly. It's a good thing, though, and he knows that Angela is just as accepting of him as she'd always been.
As if to make that point, she steps over and makes quick, casual contact with him. They'll be having to handle each other for the dance, so there's no reason to get hung up on it. ]
Very well. [ A pause, and then he looks around the room. ] We need the right music, in that case.
( he did have a point. angela didn't have any music, though perhaps there would be some here. considering that dancing practice was a part of their training it would make sense )
[ It doesn't take long for Genji to pick out some speakers in the walls, but the question is how to start the music.

[ He brings up the display, which projects against the inside of his face plate, and then navigates to the app that plays music. There's a folder for "Dance Practice," and so he picks the first song on the list. Music floods the room, and Genji inclines his head to Angela before practicing the bow that they're all supposed to perfect.
( it's a good job that he thinks of it as angela didn't know that that music was there, not having looked at all the new additions to the bce (there seemed to be many).
the bow brings a smile, with how effortless it seems for him, and angela holds a hand out to him with a nod )

[ Of course that's exactly what Genji is going to do, as he takes Angela's hand and slides in close toward her. ]

[ Probably back during Overwatch's heyday, if he had to guess. Lately Angela's life has involved setting up temporary medical tents in deserts, from what he understands. ]
[ As the music continues, Genji finds a good place to start and then falls into the steps that he's done his best to memorize. There are times when all they need to do is twirl around in circles, but there are other moments when they need to move away from each other and then come together again, or when he needs to hold his hand out for her. ]
Maybe you should be the one taking the lead.
[ She likely has more experience than he does, at least with this kind of dancing. ]
I think I can manage to avoid doing that, at least.
[ It's true that his footwork is impressive, and that's something that translates decently well on the proverbial dancefloor. There are a few moments when he forgets the next step and pauses as the music continues, but all things considered, the first attempt goes rather well. Genji shoots Angela a smile. ]
